Dr. Nirmal C is a dedicated medical professional serving as a Consultant and In Charge of the Department of Community Oncology since February 2018. He obtained his MBBS degree from Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode in 2009 and went on to complete his MD in Community Medicine in 2015. With a solid educational foundation, Dr. Nirmal has honed his expertise in the prevention, early detection, and control of cancer.

Work Experience

Before joining MVRCCRI, Dr. Nirmal gained valuable experience working at Malabar Medical College, Kozhikode. At MVRCCRI, he serves as the Principal Investigator and In Charge of the Hospital Based Cancer Registry, overseeing the collection and analysis of vital data related to cancer cases. Furthermore, Dr. Nirmal has furthered his knowledge and skills by completing the Cancer Prevention and Control Course at the esteemed National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

Dr. Nirmal’s clinical interests revolve around promoting a holistic approach to cancer care, with a strong focus on prevention, education, and community engagement. He believes in tailoring personalized strategies based on individual risk profiles and the specific needs of the community. With a commitment to evidence-based interventions, Dr. Nirmal aims to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and practical solutions for effective cancer prevention and control. His ultimate goal is to reduce the incidence and impact of cancer on the population he serves.

  • Organised approximately 200 cancer screening camps, reaching a diverse population and facilitating early detection of cancer
  • Conducted over 100 cancer awareness classes, educating individuals about risk factors, signs, and symptoms of cancer, as well as the importance of regular screenings and lifestyle modifications.

MV RAGHAVAN

The Visionary

Respectfully called MVR, the late MV Raghavan was one of the revolutionary leaders of the Communist movement in Kerala. Born in an ordinary family in Pappinissery, Kannur, his political life began in his early teens. He served two terms as Minister of Co-operation and Ports in Kerala during 1991-1996 and 2001-2006. MVR revolutionized the co-operative sector by taking the people-powered movement to healthcare and education in the State. MV Raghavan realized the role of the co-operative movement in social development and job creation and he was instrumental in setting up various institutions in the state.
